The “Panelized” vs. “Standard” Aesthetic

New Build (Panelized):

Imagine walking into a massive kitchen. Instead of a “6-gang” box (a giant plate with 6 switches), you have one tiny, glass keypad. It’s engraved: “Cooking,” “Dining,” “Entertain,” “Off.”

The actual heavy lifting of turning on the electricity happens in a panel in the garage. This is the “cleanest” look.

Retrofit (Standard):

If you have 6 switches on the wall today, you will likely have 6 Crestron dimmers on the wall tomorrow. We can engrave them and make them look pretty, but we can’t easily make the electrical box smaller without bringing in a drywaller and a painter.

We try our absolute hardest not to. We use “fish tape” and flexible drill bits to work inside the walls. However, sometimes, if there is a fire block (a piece of wood inside the wall)—we have to cut a small “access patch.”

Our Promise: If we cut it, we have professionals who can patch and paint it so you never knew we were there.

  1. Is Crestron Wireless reliable?

Yes. It operates on a frequency called “Infinet EX.” It is a “mesh” network. This means every light switch acts as a repeater for the next one. The more switches you have, the stronger the network gets. It is vastly superior to standard Wi-Fi bulbs.

  1. Can I do a “Phase 1” now and add more later?

Absolutely. This is common in retrofits.

You might start with just the Media Room and the Master Bedroom. Since Crestron is scalable, we can come back next year and add the Kitchen and the Outdoor lights. The system grows with your budget.

  1. How long does a retrofit installation take?

For a standard 4-bedroom home, the physical installation (swapping switches, installing TVs) might take 3 to 5 days. The programming takes another few days, but that is mostly done quietly on a laptop. You can live in the home the entire time.
